On noble 6th, 1945 the United States officed nuclear weapons to bomb the Japanese city of Nagasaki. Just three days later, on August 9th, 1945 they bombed Hiroshima. This was the first and only time nuclear weapons have been utilised during war. Most Americans supported President Trumans decision to use the atomic bomb on Japan because it was for the purpose of redeeming(a) lives and ending the war in order to prevent a land invasion. Americans were also horrified at the event of tusk Harbor, a naval base on the southern rim of Hawaii, was attacked by Japanese planes, causing the United States to enter domain of a function War II the next day. When Emperor Hirohito talks near the attacks on his country, he still doesnt admit defeat, tho says that the war did not turn in Japans favor. This is a huge understatement considering nearly three million Japanese were dead and the country destroyed. Americans and the Japanese have two precise different views on the events of World War II.

Prior to the bombing, the population of Hiroshima was over 380,000. Nagasaki was find at the head of a long bay devising it the best natural harbor in Japan. It was very strategic when it came to war because of its varied industries including production of ships and military equipment. These were just nigh of the reasons that the United States decided to bomb these two significant cities in Japan. President Truman knew that this would cause them to surrender. After the bombings there were 135,000 casualties reported in Hiroshima, and 64,000 in Nagasaki, and both cities were left in ruins.
