A league of their own essay

A league of their own essay is an essay about the very entertaining and funny comedy that narrates a story about the women’s baseball league that was set up during the Second World War at a time when most of those women who could play the game were engaged in the war. Despite most of the players being engaged at war, baseball stakeholders made attempts to save the game and this is when they came up with and formed the All American Girls baseball team.

These are just some of the facts that could be included in an essay about a league of their own. The other thing that is important to explore when writing about the movie is a summary of the movie. This is the section where the author of the essay could mention that the movie begins with a certain old lady moving back to the state of Illinois to attend the hall of fame awards recognizing the girls’ basketball league.

The summary could also explore the owner of Harvey’s candy bar company who in the movie is portrayed as a very greedy individual who wants to keep baseball for himself and all the profits generated from the game. In order to do this, he sends out numerous scouts to look for girls interested in the game, in particular, those girls who could play the game. One of the scouts comes across Kit Keller and Dottie Hinson who can pitch a mean first ball and hit and catch the ball, respectively.

These two girls and many others such as O’Donnell and Madonna meet at the playoff and perform in a way that makes the movie very entertaining to watch. An interesting point of the movie that is worth noting is the scene when Kit is traded and she blames her misfortune on Dottie, her sister. Apparently, Kit is traded due to the arguments she had with her sister. She is traded to the team christened Racine and the movie even gets more interesting when the two sisters play against each other on the very final game. At the end of the story, there is catch when Dottie drops the ball after being knocked over by her sister.

This results in a win for Racines in what leaves Kit wondering if her sister dropped the ball on purpose. Another interesting thing is the movie is the charter of Dottie who in spite of being a very talented catcher, never quite took the game of baseball seriously. The movie paints the picture of her being the best player of all time but to her, she is simply playing the game while on hold as she awaited the return of her husband from the war. Her coach Dugan however describes to her just how much she lights up whenever she is on the field playing the game.
