Frederick Douglass Eventful carriage Frederick Douglass was born into bondage around 1817-1818. He was detached from his mother, who died soon after he was born, and was raised on the smashing House Farm in Maryland. He worked for his white noble, whom he claims was his father, Captain Anthony. Anthony was the clerk of Colonel Lloyd who owned the whole plantation. After piteous to Baltimore, Maryland, Douglass enjoyed a relatively amount of freedom despite the study obstacles he faced. He wrote his own book called The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, which gives readers quite the visualiseing of his life. One major motivation in his life was the idea of finally being freed; freedom was the chance on to his happiness. According to the novel, Douglas said, I was so terrified and horror stricken at the sight, that I hid myself in a closet, and dared not venture out till pine after the bloody transaction was over (Douglass, 5).
